Minister calls for benchmarks for IT institutions

Professor Mike Ocquaye, Minister of Communications, on Tuesday called for benchmarks for all Information Telecommunication (IT) institutions to enable them to meet international requirements. He said such benchmarks would provide proper structured course outline for IT institutions to ensure harmonization in the sector. "The future is IT and IT is the future," he added. Read more

Youth need more access to information technology, Ban Ki-moon says

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today urged policymakers and industry leaders to work together with young people to give more of them access to information and communications technology (ICT). Ministry to introduce four bills to protect ICT use

The bills forms part of the measures being put in place to ensure security in the use of Information, Communication, Technology (ICT) in the country."The passage of these enabling legislations would go a long way to protect the communications sector and also establish Ghana as a safe place for ICT to flourish and enable our people to take full advantage of the opportunities for development." stated Dr Aggrey-Ntim Deputy Minister of Communications.  Read more

Kenya hosts pan-African ICT conference

The second pan-African conference on ICT for development, education and training is scheduled to take place in the Kenyan capital Nairobi from 28 to 30 May year. ICT-supported education, which is a core component of the development plans of most African governments, will be the main focus of the conference. Many countries have integrated ICTs in their educational systems in order to reach the Millennium Goals of achieving education for all. Read more
